I've always wondered way so many seem to think that we have a democracy when they elect a person to vote for them, hoping that the person will do what they want and hasn't lied. Their representative then gets to DC and if they don't vote the way we would like then there is absolutely nothing we can do while we wait to repeat that mistake. The system is only meant to appear democratic.
The founders were afraid of “the people”. The people they were most interested in to protect the young democracy were people like them, propertied and educated. Senators were elected by the House. The Electoral College was originally intended as a last ditch protection from the public electing a Trump. A solid democracy depends on a solid electorate. Obviously, this ain’t that.
They very much use it as an excuse, but Zionism was in no way a result of the Third Reich. It began far earlier. That’s why so many Holocaust survivors are speaking out against Netanyahu, and why so many Ultra Orthodox Jews in Palestine despise the Zionists.
Reminds me of a Rodney Dangerfield punchline from yoot about how tough the neighborhood he grew up in was...: "In first grade the Teachers asked US: 'What comes after a sentence, children?' A kid yelled out "Ya make an appeal!" Ba-ding...
