The most well balanced perspective I have seen on this issue. We sometimes want to think that a foreign people's support of their govt is either total or nonexistent, with no gray areas. It seems Iranians, while not supporting their govt's internal policies, do support the measures it has taken to deal with the US and the West. Yes, the Iranian govt did kill protestors. Undeniable. Real figures are between 3000 and 8000. As a counterpoint, Americans might want to remember that their police forces kill on average 1100 Americans every year, and that has been the case for decades. And for those who might classify my statements as "whaboutism", I would put it in the "same rules for everyone" category. A recognition of hypocrisy should not be confused or conflated with whataboutism.
