Democracy at Work was founded by Professor Richard D. Wolff, professor emeritus of economics at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and visiting professor in the Graduate Program in International Affairs at The New School. Over the course of his career, Professor Wolff has taught generations of students and continues to educate millions through his books, seminars, podcasts, and television appearances—encouraging all of us to critically analyze capitalism.
Although I did not have the good fortune of being his student during my own college years, I now have the honor of working alongside him and serving as a steward of the organization he built.
I recently saw a social media post featuring a video of Former President Barack Obama, to which he remarked that “80 percent of the world’s problems are caused by old men unwilling to step aside.” While there is some truth to that statement, there is also great value in our elders—especially those who understand the importance of uplifting and empowering the generations that follow. Where age brings wisdom and experience, youth brings strength and vitality.
With this in mind, several of Professor Wolff’s current students at The New School reached out to us, eager to get involved with Democracy at Work. These bright young women and men have powerful perspectives that deserve to be highlighted.
Los Lobos Jóvenes will provide critical economic analysis, commentary on current events, and discussions on political issues through two guiding questions:
How does this relate to the negative impacts of capitalism?
How does it directly affect the younger generation?
I am personally excited to see what insightful content that will be produced from these exceptional young people. Make sure you’re subscribed to our Substack for the latest updates.
Los Lobos Jóvenes is a section founded by current and former students of Professor Richard Wolff. Inspired by Professor Wolff, they critically examine Capitalism and its political fallouts, specifically how it impacts Gen X, Millennials, and Gen Z.

Jayson: Nice to see yonger generations doing constructive work. You and they are our future.
Glad to see this development! I look forward to finding ways to support and collaborate with Los Lobos Jóvenes!
