Today all wars are economic wars.

When I think of the capitalist system, I imagine a system that is analogous to a giant toilet. We are all stuck in it and going down the hole, but the wealthy have lifelines tied securely to the flush handle so the toilet can't stop flushing.

....and to take the analogy further, we can think of the middle class as 'floaters' and lower income peoples as 'sinkers'.

Still the brainwashed American commentariat cling to the fantasy “ America will remain immensely strong”.

It already isn’t and no it won’t.

The sycophancy is laughable to anyone outside the US Disneyland “thought” bubble.

The next (immanent ) financial crash will be the final nail in the “immensely powerful” coffin.

Why not Vietnam? US has been in decline since the 70s. We also lost in Afghanistan, Libya, Iraq, and we never really won in Korea. This is a very late assessment. US economy peaked in the 60's and has been in decline ever since. Only the tech center that is in California created something new. I think the only thing this war has in common with the Suez is that they were in the Middle East.

Exactly. In addition the British Empire was in zombie mode before WW1. The Suez analogy is fanciful in relation to it , even more so to the US currently, been stumbling since 1970.
