Please ask him why 'palestinians and israelis sitting down and negotiating a resolution to the conflict' is not, given that honestly no one else cares that much to get involved in this hornet's nest of history and tribalism, the most viable path forward. It seems like a mutual consensus to disarm hamas and vote out the kahanists and have a european union style confederation is the most plausible path forward, that isn't just 'more violence until one side wins or wins harder'.

I do support the US pressuring Israel to freeze settlements, of course. I'm just not sure why that's efficient use of our energy, relative to helping palestinians build state capacity so that living next to a palestinian state in the west bank is as healthy an arrangement as living next to a palestinian state in jordan currently is.
